How to Clean AFCO Aluminum Railing

Per the manufacturers recommendations - via AFCO Aluminum Railing.

  • The powder coated surfaces must be cleaned bi-annually. Depending on the exterior environment in which the product is installed, such as salt air environments or exposure to airborne contaminants, more frequent cleaning is required.
  • The best method for maintaining the finish of AFCO Columns and Railings Aluminum Products is to wash with a solution of warm water and a non-abrasive, pH neutral detergent solution (used as recommended). Do not use solvents such as thinners or solutions containing chlorinated hydrocarbons, esters or ketenes.
  • Cleaning should be done with a soft cloth, sponge or non-abrasive brush.
  • The outdoor temperature, as well as the temperature of the powder coated surfaces, during cleaning should not exceed 85°F (30°C).
  • The cleaning solution should not be allowed to be in contact with the powder coated surface for more than 30 minutes.
  • After cleaning, the powder coated surface should be completely rinsed-off with clean, fresh water.
  • A record of cleaning, including details and receipts of the cleaning products and/or services used, should be kept and documented.
