DIY Butterfly Sanctuary
The year 2020 has been difficult for nearly everyone across the board as we all struggle to find a sense of normalcy in an abnormal and sometimes frightening world. That being said, there have been many times, especially here at DecksDirect, where joy has found a way!
One example that we were grateful to see this year was of our customers working hard to make sure that the nature around us can grow and thrive as they should. Starting a DIY butterfly nursery in their backyard, our customers are using the most durable deck products around to create an inviting, comforting space for our flighty friends.
How to Build a Butterfly Sanctuary
One of our customers used the fantastic deck products, SCREENEZE and Super Screen, to create their DIY butterfly sanctuary! Installing the deck screen around a section in the back of their home, our DecksDirect customer created a safe, screened-in porch for their hatching butterflies to grow and thrive!
Kier, one of our helpful Deck Designers, said of the project,
"I was talking with a customer at the end of the day yesterday asking about Super Screen by screen-eze. They said they needed it to keep the lizards out of their butterfly sanctuary. I came to find out they had started a butterfly sanctuary at the beginning of quarantine, as a hobby, but now they have a whole sanctuary plus an included infirmary for the struggling butterflies. They currently have 11 kinds of butterflies there, and also they hatch 10 A DAY."
