The Westbury Tuscany railing system is a simple railing system to understand. When purchasing sections of Westbury Tuscany railing you will have a five step process.
Step 1 - Choose Your Deck Post
The first step in the process is determining what type of post you want to use with your Tuscany system. You can use a traditional wood post if that's the look you are going for. Otherwise, DecksDirect offers four different post options for the Westbury Tuscany system. The 2 inch Post Kit by Westbury Aluminum Railing which is a 2x2 inch post that includes one post cap, one post skirt, & two leveling shims, the Post by Westbury Aluminum Railing which is available in 2x2 or 4x4 inch sizes but does not come with the cap or skirt or the Westbury Fascia Mount Post With Bracket which allows you to maximize the surface area of your deck. Keep in mind that if you are looking to use the Tuscany Crossover Brackets to have a continuous top rail you will need to use the 2x2 inch Tuscany aluminum posts.
Step 2 - Deck Post Cap
Next, decide how you want to top/cap your posts. Do you want a little bit of illumination or just something to cover the top of the post? DecksDirect has a wide variety of post caps in different material types in both lit and unlit varieties. If you're looking to match perfectly with the Tuscany Railing system then we would recommend the Magena Star Titan Post Cap Light by Westbury which matches both the size and color options available with Tuscany railing, the Post Cap for Westbury Aluminum Railing which is the same post cap that is available with the 2 inch Post Kit, or the Ball Top Post Cap for Westbury Aluminum Railing which features a classic ball top in the same color of finish and sizes available with Tuscany railing. Step 3 - Deck Post Skirt
Westbury makes the Post Skirt/Flair by Westbury Aluminum Railing which matches both the size and color options available with Tuscany railing. This post skirt comes in two pieces for easy installation and is made from the same low maintenance powder-coated aluminum as Tuscany Railing.
Step 4- Rail & Baluster Kit
Step 4 is where you get your Tuscany Level Rail Section Kit and/or your Tuscany Star Rail Section Kit depending on if your installing level railing, stair railing, or both. Both the level and stair railing section kits have the option to choose from round or square baluster infill, are available in the four Tuscany color options, and come in 36 inch and 42 inch rail heights. The level rail kit is available in 5 ft, 6 ft, 7 ft, and 8 ft sections. The stair rail kit is available in only 6 ft and 8 ft sections.
Step 5 - Deck Railing Brackets for Angled Railing or Stair Railing Sections
In order to complete your Westbury Tuscany railing installation, you will have to connect the rail sections to your posts. There's no easier way to do this than with the combined efforts of the Tuscany Brackets For Westbury Aluminum Railing and the Installation Tool for Westbury Rail System. This step is optional because your level rail and stair rail section kits come with included mounting brackets, however, sometimes you have a special angle that a traditional bracket won't accommodate for. Westbury offers the Angle Swivel Mounts that can be used to mount rail sections between 0° and 45° horizontally, and up to 43° vertically. Fixed Stair Mounts that are used to mount railing sections on stairs with a standard 32° to 36° angle and Stair Swivel Mounts that accommodate 0° to 43° angles.
Deck Handrail Options
The Westbury Tuscany Aluminum Railing System also has the option to install a handrail. You can choose to go with a standard graspable handrail and/or a handrail that will be ADA compliant. Regardless of what style of handrail you go with you will need the Aluminum Handrail by Westbury Aluminum Railing. Depending on how long of a section of handrail you choose you may also require the Internal Connector for Westbury Continuous Aluminum Handrail which will allow you to continue your handrail past it's 8 ft, 10 ft or 16 ft length (10 ft & 16 ft handrail sections available only in Minnesota). You'll also need Collar Rings for Westbury Continuous Aluminum Handrail which will conceal and protect the splices in your handrail.
Standard Graspable Handrail
Step 1 - Wall Mount Handrail Support
The Wall Mount Handrail Support for Westbury Continuous Aluminum Handrail allows you to secure a run of Westbury Aluminum Handrail. Attach the wall mount to a wall or post using three fasteners (not included). The wall mount is available in the same powder-coated finishes as the Tuscany Railing.
Step 2 - Wall Return Handrail Support
The Wall Return Handrail Support for Westbury Continuous Aluminum Handrail returns your handrail to the wall. Simply attach the wall return to a wall or post using three fasteners (not included). The wall return is also available in the same powder-coated finishes as the Westbury Tuscany Railing.
Step 3 - Internal End Caps
For a handrail that doesn't return to a wall or post, cap it off securely with the Internal End Cap for Westbury Continuous Aluminum Handrail. The internal end cap is available in the same powder-coated finishes as the Westbury Tuscany Railing.
ADA Compliant Handrail
Step 1 - Handrail Elbows
Handrail Elbows for Westbury Continous Aluminum Handrail level off the top of an angled stair or ramp handrail. These handrail elbows are available in four convenient angles 5° angle, 31° angle, 34° angle, and 36° angle. The handrail elbows are available in the same powder-coated finishes as the Westbury Tuscany Railing.
Step 2 - Elbow Handrail Return (90° & 180°)
There are two different elbow handrail returns available through DecksDirect. Your 90 Degree Elbow Handrail Return for Westbury Continous Aluminum Handrail will allow you to create an inside or outside corner for your handrail. Use two in order to wrap around a 2 inch or 4 inch deck post. You also have the 180 Degree Elbow Handrail Return for Westbury Continuous Aluminum Handrail. It's perfect for the end of a handrail run as it protrudes past the post and then angles back to the post after turning 180°. Both of these elbow handrail returns are available in the same powder-coated finishes as the Westbury Tuscany Railing.
Step 3 - Inside Corner Mount Handrail Support
Last but not least is the Inside Corner Mount Handrail Support for Westbury Continuous Aluminum Handrail. In order to have an inside corner of handrail, you will need to use the inside corner mount. You simply need to attach the inside corner mount to your post with three fasteners (not included). This inside corner mount is available in the same powder-coated finishes as the Westbury Tuscany Railing.
