Please note that large or bulky items can't ship parcel and require a semi truck delivery with different shipping times. You can learn more about our semi truck delivery process by following this link.

Semi Truck Deliveries

Shipping deck projects means we work with some huge, heavy orders. When an order is heavy or bulky enough, we ship it to you on a semi truck for a curbside delivery - you'll sometimes see this called an LTL or freight delivery.

Read below to learn what to expect and how to prepare when your order needs a Semi Truck Delivery from DecksDirect.

What To Expect:

Step 1: Watch for our email.

Our team carefully packs your order onto a pallet to make sure everything ships safely. We'll send you an email when it's left our building!

Step 2: Schedule a delivery time.

Your project is precious - so we make sure it's delivered when you're there to receive it. The shipping company will call you to arrange a time for your curbside delivery, and then the truck will meet you at your delivery site.

Step 3: Inspect & unload your order.

The truck will meet you at your delivery site at the time you scheduled. The truck will park on the road at the curb for a curbside delivery. You'll have a 30-minute window to unload your order from the truck - this gives you a chance to personally inspect each piece to make sure nothing was damaged in transit.

Step 4: Sign for your order.

Don't sign for your order until after you've unloaded all your items. It's rare, but if anything arrives missing or damaged, we'll file a claim with the shipping company so you don't have to. Make a note of any damages on the shipping receipt and take pictures of the packaging and the items.

Please contact us at support@decksdirect.com or 1-888-824-5316 immediately and send your photos so we can work to set things right! Shipping companies typically have a three-day window to file claims, so the sooner we get your information and photos, the quicker we can start solving the problem.

What You Need To Know:

DecksDirect offers three Semi Truck Delivery options:

  • Hand Unload (default): this is the default method for online orders. You will unload your curbside order from the truck by hand to make sure all your items are in perfect condition.
  • Liftgate: some medium-sized orders can arrive in a truck with a liftgate that lowers your order down onto your driveway. Call us to set up this method.
  • Flatbed & Forklift: some large orders can ship to you on a flatbed truck with a mounted forklift called a moffett. Call us to set up this method.

If you want to change your delivery method, call us as soon as possible at 1-888-824-5316. Our team will help connect you with the available options. For any of the three Semi Truck Delivery Methods, you'll need to meet the truck in person to sign for your order - we make sure to give you a chance to inspect everything right when it arrives.

Specialty Delivery Options

Liftgate deliveries follow the same basic steps. Make sure your delivery site has a flat surface where the truck's liftgate can lower and place your order. Instead of you hand unloading in Step 3, the truck driver will lower your order to the ground with the liftgate before you sign for it.

Flatbed & forklift deliveries follow the same basic steps. Make sure your delivery site is accessible to a long flatbed truck and that the forklift has room to turn around. You'll need a flat surface at your delivery site where the forklift can set your order. Instead of you hand unloading in Step 3, the truck driver will use the forklift to place your order on the ground at your site before you sign for it.
