Old Wood Railing

Congratulations to Joe F. from Moneta, Virgina for winning our first Deck of the Month contest of the 2018 year! He took his falling wooden railing and updated it with the Feeney CableRail System. He updated with new wood posts, and drilled holes into them to run his CableRail through. Joe spaced out his posts and used Intermediate Pickets to stabilize the cable.

Check out what Joe had to say about his project:

"I have a 42' span of deck overlooking a lake. There are 6 - 4x4 posts. I was advised to buy the Feeney cable system - 50'. I ran 8 cables. I had to demo original and that took the most time. Then I redesigned the wood rail using 5/4 6" top. The most challenging part of this work was drilling the 8 holes in each post. You have to get as accurate as possible. I used the median picket I purchased as a template. In retrospect I would suggest a laser light which would give better accuracy of the holes so they line up perfect. All in all I am very pleased with the outcome as it is a night and day difference in our view!"

Joe can now enoy his updated and safe railing overlooking his lake while sporting his new DecksDirect gear!
