Add the stunning look of a 1/8 inch thick steel wire railing system to your deck and create the backyard living space of your dreams. Specially designed cable deck railing components such as CableRail Quick-Connect® fittings and CableRail Quick-Connect® Threaded Terminal fittings securely attach your 1/8 inch stainless steel cable to your deck posts and allows you to create a virtually invisible deck railing that delivers spectacular backyard views when fully installed. Cable railing systems help keep your outdoor living area up to building code and protects family, guests, and pets from trips and falls while highlighting and enhancing the look of your home.
Finish your railing project quickly and easily with the incredibly convenient CableRail Cable Cutter for 1/8 inch Cable, CableRail Lacing Needle for 1/8 inch Cable, and CableRail Release Tool for 1/8 inch Cable (all sold separately).
Will CableRail pass building code?
Building codes vary from location to location. DecksDirect always recommends checking with your local building department before installing or updating your deck.
How far apart should I space my cables?
It is recommended spacing cables no more than 3 inches apart. The International Building Code states that a 4 inch sphere cannot pass through any opening in your railing, and since cable is non-rigid, the flex of the cable must be taken into account.
How far apart should I space my posts?
It is recommended to have set posts a maximum of 6 feet apart with an Intermediate Picket at least every 3 feet. This combined with cables being spaced 3 inches apart, ensures the cable components to be tensioned to not open past the 4 inch building code requirement.
Your installation could be delayed if you are unable to disconnect a cable from a Quick-Connect® fitting! We strongly recommend adding a Release Tool to every Feeney CableRail order!
