Steps to Install Dekor Lights

Planning Deck Light Design and Wiring

Prior to installing, plan locations of lights, power supply, timer, and dimmer. These need to be accessible for service. It is required to install a GFCI outlet to help prevent damage to lights caused by electrical surges.

The Dekor Dimmer remote only works in a 30 foot radius of the unit itself. Install your Dekor Light Dimmer in a dry location.

You must install the Dekor timer vertically with the photocell facing outward. The Dekor timer must be at least 1 foot from ground level when installed as per federal safety code height regulations. To use the dusk and dawn setting, the Dekor timer must be in view of the sun.

Installing Dekor Wiring

NOTE: It is best to install wiring and splitters before railing and decking have been installed.

You must be run wiring under decking structure and behind stringers. Do not run wires between joists and deck boards. Use cable staples at least 1/4 inch wide to staple to frame.

Making Wire Connections

Using hardware provided install splitters to inside of framing. Install at every post base where lighting is present and depending on spacing in between each riser and recessed light.

Attach male lead from lights to female connections on the Dekor splitter. Attach male-to- male connection wires in between each splitter. Continue until all wiring from lights are attached to splitters and connector wires are attached in between splitters.

Cap off all unused female connections on splitters using caps provided or weather-resistant silicone.

Connect and Install Dekor Lights

Follow your exact Dekor light fixture's installation instructions to complete the light addition.

For Dekor post cap lights, simply connect the male lead wire from the cap to the female opening of the Dekor splitter at the base of the post. Then mount on top of post and secure in place with silicone adhesive for a firm hold.

For Dekor rail lights and stair lighting, a 1 inch Forstner bit should be used to create an opening in the planned location for the light. Through that opening the Quick Connect wiring will enter and then connect to the splitter located underneath the deck. Then, the light should be secured in place via the included installation screws, silicone, or for a tension-fit hold.

To add Dekor Flex Deck LED Rope Lights or the Dekor No See 'Em Lights, installation steps are easier than ever before. Simply note your strip light location, ensure that your Dekor Quick Connect Extension Wire can reach the nearest Dekor splitter, then clean and mount your Dekor LED strip light with the included 3M™ adhesive. Then tuck away and conceal the connecting wires up underneath deck rails.
