Product Description
POST SEAL is a self-adhesive waterproofing membrane specifically designed to wrap around wooden posts and poles, preventing wood-rot, which results from contact with moist soil. Wood decay occurs when bacteria in the soil combines with moisture and oxygen that exist at ground level. Post Seal works by completely sealing 12 inches of the post, or pole, at the ground level, where wood-rot starts. Post Seal’s specially formulated modified asphalt adhesive acts as a water barrier, preventing moist soil from coming in contact with the wood. Post Seal will protect both treated and untreated wood, adding years of life to the pole or post.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE:
For best moisture protection and adhesion, the post should be clean and dry, and the temperature should be 50° or warmer.
Step 1. Post Seal should extend 2 to 3 inches above the finished grade when the post is set. To determine the proper location for product placement, insert post in hole, mark the post indicating grade level, and then remove the post from the hole.
Step 2. Do not remove white release paper until just prior to application. To determine the proper length of Post Seal to use, wrap the material around the post, making sure that there is enough material for a minimum 3 inch overlap. Cut Post Seal to length with a knife or scissors.
Step 3. Remove release paper from Post Seal and wrap it around the post. Press firmly in place.
Step 4. For maximum adhesion, it is recommended to use a hand roller to roll the entire Post Seal wrap. Pay particular attention to the overlap, and top and bottom edges.
Step 5. The post may now be set into position.
INSTALLATION HINTS:
* When wrapping multiple posts of similar dimensions, it is faster to cut all sections of Post Seal first, and then wrap the
posts as they are set in the ground.
* At temperatures colder than 50° F, or if Post Seal is not adhering well to the post, spray the area to be wrapped with
3M™Super77™ prior to applying. If spray adhesive is not available, you may also nail or staple Post Seal to the post.
The specially formulated adhesive will seal around the nail or staple, preventing moisture from getting through.
* In areas that flood, or areas where the Post Seal will be submerged for extended lengths of time, it is recommended
that a bead of non-silicone, acrylic exterior caulk be applied along the top edge of the Post Seal.
* For posts that are installed on a concrete pad, or set in concrete, Post Seal can be placed between the concrete and
the wood to prevent damage to the wood that is caused by contact with fresh concrete.
