Baroque Architectural Balusters by Deckorators
Why Jon likes this product: These balusters are the perfect product for an old deck that needs a fresh look. The architectural design of the baluster takes an ordinary straight boring rail to a far more aesthetically pleasing appearance with a custom look without any more work. When it’s time to refinish that wood deck, pull off the old wood balusters, refinish the wood and install these new balusters (screw them right onto the wood railing frame that the old wood balusters used to connect to) for a brand new looking rail.
Key product features:
- Available in three colors: Black, Bronze and White
- Available in two sizes: 32.25” and 40”
Westbury Tuscany Aluminum Railing System
Why Jon likes this product: Style, cleanliness, ease of install and durability. The Westbury rail has nailed all of these. The most popular of the Westbury lines “Tuscany” rail matches up nicely to many different homes styles. The durable top-of-the-line powder-coated finish will perform and have the same “brand new” low maintenance appearance for years and years to come. The slim yet strong ¾” balusters coupled with the soft and well designed top and bottom rails will not impair the view of your yard and landscape the way that some of the heavier wood and composite systems will.
Whether you’re a DIY’er or professional contractor you will find this to be a great install. The pre-punched baluster holes in the top and bottom rails make the assembly of the rail sections an easy task and create a strong yet clean system without rattles.
Special product notes: It's an all-aluminum system, with no chance of rusting. Carries a CCRR number (Code Compliance Research Report) proving to meet all testing requirements for railing systems set forth by the 2012 IRC and 2012 IBC. Report number CCRR-0163.
Key product features:
- Powder Coat is AAMA 2604-05 compliant
- Adjustable brackets for level and stair
- 2” and 4” newel posts available
- Three standard colors available (textured black, textured bronze and textured white)
- Eight custom colors
LED Rail Light by Trex Deck Lighting
Why Jon likes this product: Classic round side-mount light design with encased bulb. Frosted lens and aluminum fixture gives you a quality feel. I like that these lights put the light onto the deck surface where I need it.
Special product notes: Available in three powder-coated colors: Charcoal Black, Hammered Bronze and Classic White. These colors match up well to many types of rail systems, not just Trex.
Key product features:Trex took a classic styled light and downsized it. This enables you to use it on a number of different sized newel posts. Love the 2-3/4” size, it's understated on wood and composite posts and fits nicely on posts for a number of the aluminum or steel systems.View LED Rail Light by Trex Deck Lighting back to top
Why Jon likes this product: The reason I gravitate to this system over its competitors is the simplicity of the system. With just a tape measure, chalk line, drill and snips you can install this product with a professional appearance whether you’re a do-it-yourselfer or an industry pro. With a total of just six pieces to the entire system you won’t find yourself overwhelmed by a bunch of parts and pieces or complicated instructions. With the installation of Zip-Up you will double the amount of usable square footage of your deck with a dry area that is brightened up by its white or beige finish.
Special product notes: Easy to remove a single panel after installation, thanks to the "zipper"-type snap-together design.
Key product features: My favorite part of the Zip-Up system is that unlike many of its counterparts that need to be installed prior to the decking being applied to the deck surface, Zip-Up can be retrofitted onto any existing deck as well as installed during any new build.View Zip-Up UnderDeck back to top
